When a storm drops a tree on your garage, snaps a trunk off at the base, or leaves a tree hung up in the branches of the trees around it, that's the work we're built for. We get the weight off the structure, take the broken tree down piece by piece, and clean up the mess — from Freetown and Helmsburg to Lake LaSalle, Nashville, and Martinsville.
Storm-damaged trees are under tension and can let go without warning, so this isn't a job for a saw from the ground. Our climber ropes in and brings the tree down in sections, every piece lowered to the ground crew. Then the wood is cut up, the branches go through the chipper, and the debris is hauled away or stacked wherever you want it.

What do you do when a tree falls on a house or garage?
First we get the tree off the structure. This September a dead tree rotted through at the base and came down on a garage roof in Freetown — we lifted the tree off the garage, took down the dead tree standing right beside it, and tarped the roof to protect the homeowner's property from an incoming storm. All the wood was cut up and stacked at the back of the property, with the loose material in the burn pit. Every storm job is different, so we look at the tree, the structure, and the access, then decide the safest way to take the weight off.
Can you take down a tree that's hung up in other trees?
Yes — that's some of the most careful work we do. A storm-blown tree that snaps at the base and gets stuck in the branches of the trees around it is under a lot of tension and can let go at any moment, so it can't be cut from the ground. On Lake LaSalle in Brown County an August storm left a tree hung up exactly like that: we climbed up, freed it, dropped it safely to the ground, and cleaned up the mess.
What about trees that are leaning over the house after a storm?
We climb them and bring them down piece by piece. In Morgantown a big branch broke off high in a tree that was leaning heavy over the house, with the air conditioner and the propane tank right underneath. We roped in, took the rest of the tree down in sections, lowered every piece to the ground crew, and stacked the wood for the homeowner. In Nashville a storm-damaged tree got the same treatment, with the trunk cut into logs the homeowner could split for firewood.
What happens to the wood and debris?
Your call. We cut the trunk into logs and either stack them for firewood or haul them away, run the branches through the chipper, and haul the rest off so you're left with a clean yard. If the storm also heaved up a root ball, we grind the stump and surface roots below grade and leave the spot level, ready for topsoil and grass seed — that's what we did after a summer storm uprooted a tree here in Brown County.
Do you tarp roofs?
When another storm is on the way and a tree has opened up a roof, yes — we tarped the garage roof on the Freetown job to protect the homeowner's property until repairs could be made. Tarping is a stopgap to keep water out; the roof repair itself is a job for a roofer.

Will you grind the stump too?
Yes, when you're ready. Storm cleanup and stump grinding are often two visits — the tree comes off and gets cleaned up first, and the stump can be ground the same day or later once things settle down. Storm-uprooted root balls are ground out and leveled the same way.
Do you handle the brush and limbs a storm leaves behind, even if the tree is already down?
Yes. If a storm already dropped limbs and brush across your yard, we cut it up, chip it, and haul it away — one pile or a whole property's worth.
