Tree Felling

When a tree needs to come all the way down, we fell it safely — whether it's a clean drop in an open yard or a careful, sectioned takedown right next to a house, fence, or power line.

We read the lean, set the cut, and control the fall so the tree comes down where we want it — not where it doesn't. Then we buck it up, clear the wood, and leave the site clean.

How it works

What to expect from us

Felling is the classic way to bring a tree down: one controlled cut sequence, and the whole tree comes down in a planned direction. When there's room to drop it — an open yard, a field edge, a wooded lot — felling is the fastest and most economical way to take a tree down.

The skill is in reading the tree. Lean, weight distribution, wind, rot in the trunk — all of it decides where that tree wants to go and how we make it go where it should. We set the notch and hinge, control the fall, then buck the trunk, limb it out, and leave the site clean.

Not every tree can be felled whole — if it's hanging over your house, garage, or power lines, that's a piece-by-piece removal job instead. Not sure which your tree needs? Send us a photo and we'll tell you straight.

Tree Felling questions, answered

What's the difference between tree felling and tree removal?

Felling drops the whole tree in one controlled fall — it needs open space to land. Removal takes the tree apart piece by piece with climbing and rigging, which is what's required next to houses, fences, and power lines. Felling is quicker and costs less when there's room; we'll tell you honestly which one your tree needs.

Can I keep the wood for firewood?

Absolutely. We can buck the trunk into firewood-length rounds and leave them stacked, or haul everything away — your choice, and it affects the price, so tell us what you want when we quote the job.

My tree is leaning. Does that make it easier or harder to fell?

A lean in a safe direction can make the job simple. A lean toward your house, driveway, or a neighbor's property makes it a technical job that may need rigging or piece-by-piece work instead. Either way, don't try to beat the lean yourself — leaning trees are where DIY felling goes wrong fastest.

Do you clean up after felling a tree?

Yes. Bucking, limbing, brush hauling, and site cleanup are part of the job. If you want the wood or the chips left for your own use, we'll leave them neatly — otherwise we haul it all off.
